Often times we get so hurdled up with winning and success, and when it eventually gets too heavy to bear, we feel like giving up. Everyone has had their own fair share of life’s struggle, those trying times when everything just goes southwards or maybe things are on the right track, but you feel exhausted from it all. Don’t think for one moment that giving up is the next step to take.
Over the course of building my business and brand, I’ve been faced with a lot of challenges and setbacks. A major reason why I started business coaching is to not only teach young entrepreneurs how to start working towards their business ideas but also how to scale through the doubts they may encounter on their path to success. So here are the 4 things you should do when you feel like giving up.
- Remember ‘Why’ you started
This is the best step to get back on track and refocus on your targets. Often times we find ourselves at the verge of quitting something we’ve put so much energy to start be it business or relationship, it happens at some point. Questioning yourself on your purpose with regards to the issue in question can go a long way to put your focus back on track. What do you want and why did you want it in the first place?
Sometimes we get so upset with a particular setback in the business, and at the climax of it all we just wish we could quit, but the truth is, as soon as you resolve not to let that setback pull you down, you find a solution to it.
- Get inspired
More like renew your inspiration, because it’s obvious that at some point along the way, you lost it. It’s easy to figure out how to get re-inspired after you’ve sorted out step one. When we get inspired, we see what the outcome of our hard work should be and get to work towards them.
When I hit a stumbling block in my business and sometimes feel that I need to quit, there are few steps I take to renew my inspiration.
- Revisit the lives of others who have achieved the same dream you are working towards.
- Get in touch with online inspirational/ motivational quotes, or better still read a book.
- Be grateful
A grateful heart is a happy heart, and a happy heart is a heart that’s not gonna quit. Form the habit of gratitude, every morning wake up in admiration of how far you have gotten so far. The human subconscious process not less than fifty to sixty thousand thoughts daily, most of which are negative and filled with doubts. However, daily gratitude is a perfect reverse mechanism to keep your mind on track.
- Be persistent
A persistent business owner is always a winner. Just as Benjamin Franklin often says “Energy and persistence conquer all things.” A persistent business owner does not see quitting as an option, and you need to be that guy. You need to be the person who pushes on every day even though the world is falling apart. Never forget that “Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in” Bill Bradley.
