What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid?

What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid

I know sometimes you wonder what you could have achieved if you weren’t always afraid. Could you have succeeded in that business if you weren’t afraid you would fail? What would have happened if you weren’t afraid to tell that girl/guy you loved her? She could have been into you too, you know. Or what if you weren’t so afraid of what every other person thinks of you? Life would be so much easier if people could put their fears aside.

Fear is one of the strongest emotions that hold people back from going forward with things you’ve planned to do. That sad feeling in your guts, dragging you back from being as courageous as you would have been. Many people often back out a great plan because of one fear or another. If you’re going to succeed in life, you’ll have to put your fears aside and do your best.

The advantages of leading a fear-free life cannot be over emphasized, for the most part of it, you get to see life from a broader and clearer perspective rather than the pinhole aperture you’ve been dealing with for a while. You get to be more confident and express yourself in circles where ordinarily you thought you wouldn’t fit in. People give you more respect because now they see a fighter and courageous person who in spite of all adversities, refused to be put down.

How to overcome your fears

Fear is unlike other emotions, keeps you in the dark and takes away the courage needed to embrace life’s opportunity. Many people deal with various kinds of fears daily, and if not check can result in anxiety. If you are wondering how best to go about your fears, here’s what you’re going to do.

The most effective way of overcoming your fears is by facing them. Whatever it is you’re always afraid of, sit with those unhealthy emotions, get it out with and free yourself from the ties of fear. For instance, if you’re afraid of a boss or work colleague to the extent you dread being close to them, make it a duty to always talk to them whenever you’re at the office. Similarly, if you’re afraid of pulling through with a career or business for fear that it might fail, meet an expert or someone that could put you through it and make the work easier. Life is not rocket science, it’s a product of the risks we are willing to take.

Advantages of letting go of fear

  • You would become a better version of yourself: no fear equals confidence, strength, contentment, and all this great in your life.
  • You would freely express your thoughts: shying away from discussions would be a thing of the past, now you would freely express your thoughts.
  • Make better friends: people of great minds know when a fearless person speaks and as such would draw closer to you
  • Success in life endeavors: businesses, career, and lifestyle, relationships become less complicated when you are confident and fearless.

In conclusion, there are a lot of things you could achieve if you were fearless, all you have to do is face your fears today to become better tomorrow.

6 Ways to Feel You Have Accomplished Something Today

By | Business | No Comments

We’ve all been through days when you feel utterly terrible about yourself and feel like you haven’t achieved much. Such days are often characterized with you snuggling up to your blanket, binge eating, no shower and probably a pinch of laziness. The realization often comes during the late hours of the day when you come to terms that hours have rolled by and you are yet to do any real chore for the day. If you do not know what to do during such occasions or how to control it, there’s a high possibility there’s going to be series of repeat and guess what suffers most your business!

Below are a few pointers on stuff to do every day to keep that nauseous feeling of not accomplishing much away.

#. Identify the exact things you wish to accomplish

One of the first things I do every morning is to create a checklist of things I wish to accomplish before the day runs out. Of course, as a wife, mother, and business mogul I’m already choked up with tasks, but with a mental checklist, I clearly define tasks I wish to perform and strive throughout the day to see them done.

Now, most people who work from home often find themselves not accomplishing much because freedom is often abused when you have no one to checkmate you. If you wish to run your business effectively and keep away that feeling of not accomplishing much, then you would have to plan every day as you wake.

#. Chunking down your tasks to smaller parts

When you take on more tasks than you can perform for the active hours of the day, the possibility of giving up to early on them increases. The human mind is quite tricky, and to a great extent, it influences your productivity. If you break down heavy tasks into smaller parts, there’s a higher chance you would perform them faster and better than when you take on the whole tasks at once.

#. Giving yourself time to finish the task

Don’t go grumbling because you couldn’t finish a task within the time frame you expected, this could discourage you even more, and at the end of the day you might end up not completing that task. For whichever task you choose, give yourself enough time to do it at your best.

#. Never compare yourself to others

Don’t go discouraging yourself because you feel other people are doing better than you, it drains you emotionally, physically and psychologically. Everyone has his/her own race to run, mind your own track and you will get there soon.

#. Try to be optimistic

No matter how bad you feel the day is always view the day from the glass half full perspective, you never can tell something good might happen even in the worst of days. Optimism is an action driver and a real motivator, you might be as tired as a sack but keep telling yourself ‘Yes I can,’ and surprisingly you would do that stuff, Try it today.

#. Define success in your own terms

Success is what we call it. Learn to define success in your own terms and if I may suggest,’ Success should be the outcome of your best effort.’ You do not need to work yourself out like a donkey to feel you have succeeded, but even the tiniest effort at something should be appreciated and valued.

Now you have the key guidelines to making the most out of your day, follow me to find out more on how to grow your business to greater heights.

Struggling to Break a Bad Habit? Science Says You Should Do This

By | Business | No Comments

Bad habits put your life on hold as you constantly try to break free from them. If not properly checked, it could put your physical and mental health in jeopardy, not even to mention the continuous use of energy and time. If they are so bad and unhealthy for us, why do we continue to do they rather than break away?

To figure out how to break away from bad habits, we must first understand what causes them.

Stress and Boredom the Major Causes of Bad Habit

Most bad habits stemmed off from dealing with boredom and stress. Idleness breeds mischief, and before you are aware of yourself, it has already culminated into a dreadful bad habit. Every bad habit you are trying to fight can be traced to either of these two. From strong alcoholic tendencies, drug abuse, to milder vices such as biting your nails and wasting time on the internet.

However, as difficult as it may seem, you can teach yourself to stop these awful habits before they ruin you. So what is the recommended approach to dealing with bad habits? Remember these stem from boredom and stress; hence, finding better and more productive activities to perform at such times will go a long way to put the bad habits in check.

Here’s What Science Thinks about Quitting a Habit

Research shows sixty-six days is the average time for a person to form a habit. It varies from 18 to 254 days for it to stick. Habits are the brain’s way of helping us by establishing a pattern that neurons can follow. They put us on autopilot. There is nothing to be embarrassed about when you have bad habits. Every person has. I know I have. Small, bad behaviors when piled up can have a negative impact in the long run. Your bad habits can create a dent in your productivity.

Habits are difficult to change because they are already ingrained in your system. Doing things regularly condition your neurons to make the action automatic. Hence to stop a habit, you need to develop a healthier habit in place of the old one.

How to Stop Bad Habits

Stopping a bad habit may seem difficult but if properly handled, can be achieved. Here are a few other steps to help you quit any habit you may have.

  1. pinpoint the behavior you want to change
  2. identify the reward that you get from the routine
  3. identify what triggers it most of the time

As soon as you have these three variables in place, the next step is to figure out a healthier habit to put in place of them. When habits are formed, the neurons in the brain follow a pattern that makes the activity easier to perform. This pattern is difficult to break. To weaken it, you must establish a new habit. Neuroscientist Elliot Berkman also confirms that the brain finds it easier to do something new than to stop doing the habitual activity without replacement.

In summary, habits are a part of character development, and no matter how difficult they may seem to drop, we have total control over them.

How to Grow an Engaged Instagram Audience

By | Business | No Comments

Instagram has surely grown beyond a basic picture/video sharing online community. The Instagram of today is a trendsetter and the perfect tool to connect to millions of potential customers and audience. You probably have been an ardent user of the popular interactive social media, but since we are on a path to help you grow your business, I’m going to share to you some tips on how to grow an engaged Instagram audience.

#. Always Know Your Audience

I found out you can only appeal to people’s interest when you offer what they are most likely to go for. What is the essence of boasting of large followers if you have no idea what their interests are? This, in turn, means posting catchy captions and photos are a waste as long as the audience has no interest in them.

There are many tools out there which helps you figure out what your Instagram audience are interested in, my favorite, however, is Iconosquare. Iconosquare is the perfect tool to monitor the online activity of your audience, stuffs like what photos/videos they liked, times at which they come online throughout the week and who had left the most comments on your posts. I would strongly recommend this tool as it helps you get in touch with the interests of your audience this way you know when they start getting disconnected with your content and in turn, you can re-strategize.

#. You Have To Really Connect With Your Audience

There is no better way to grow an engaged Instagram audience than to really “engage” with your audience on a personal level. You have to be ready and willing to listen and ask questions when necessary to get their opinion on issues and the business. A good way to go about this is to ask questions regarding people’s opinion about your brand regularly. Secondly, keep an open line of communication between your audiences and although it may seem difficult, try as much as possible to reply messages and clarify issues they come up with about your brand and services.

#. Be Exceptional

Instagram probably has over a million entrepreneurs and business accounts preaching exactly the same gospel you wish to share hence, you need to set yourself apart. Make an effort to ensure every content you post on Instagram contains something valuable your audience is yet to encounter before this way you give them a reason to come back.

I believe the easiest way to set your brand apart is through educative content. Ensure every post teaches something about your services, stuff like quick business tips or business guideline.

#. Use Hashtags and Create Challenges

Of course, we all know using hashtags strategically places your content in the hands of your desired audience. If you’re having problems remembering the hashtags you used previously, copy them out to a separate document so next time you wish to post you just copy and paste voila!

Creating fun challenges can go a long way to propel your brand, just imagine how far the Kiki challenge took Drake’s album, you too can create something similar.

Here’s how to Stop Caring about Things That Don’t Matter

By | Business | No Comments

Have you ever wondered how you could stop worrying about things that don’t matter? How to keep your thoughts centered only on worthwhile things? Do you know how much time is wasted on devoting time to irrelevancies? A whole lot! Moreover, the worst part of it all is you are always anxious, worried and end up not achieving much at the end of the day.

Very often we get distracted and wander off caring about things that don’t matter, and this makes it even harder to prioritize the things that matter. A dare consequence of this also is that you are often exhausted and skeptical always. When we stop caring about things like other people’s choices in life and success compared to ours, we experience inner peace and contentment like no other. To make it much easier to stop, I have compiled the best tips on how to stop caring about things that don’t matter.

  • Realize that people don’t always think you are that important

The problem with most sensitive people is they think no one can do without them, so they go all out solving everything they lay their hands on. Well, News flash the world will keep functioning with or without your input. Most times the things and people we feel matter have an opposite feeling about us.

Furthermore, it’s healthier to give more attention to things and people that would reciprocate the same actions. Most times, peoples don’t feel the same way we do about them, and to that effect, you might end up wasting your time on what doesn’t matter.

  •  Ask yourself, “What’s the worst thing that can happen if I don’t do this?”

Most times, the anticipation of the end product is all you need to know if it matters or not. When you analyze a situation critically before going onto it, you come to the realization of what side of the scale it falls to. Making hasty under judged decision could lead you to care about things that don’t matter.

  • Learn to say no

“No” is a very powerful and decisive tool if you wish to make better use of your time and stick with the right decisions. Saying no doesn’t make you a bad person, and it helps you prioritize your time.

Also, time is limited and to ensure you don’t waste any more of it; you need to say no to things that don’t matter and channel more energy and resources to things that do.

  • No one is perfect, including you

When you realize you are not perfect, you will cut down on the perfection obsession, and it cuts across every aspect of your life as well. The reason why you spend so much time on things that don’t matter is that you feel the need to make things perfect, and that could be time-consuming. You do not need to be perfect, let the perfection be you just the way you are.

The secret to not caring so much about things is to give everything equal attention, care and time.

Boost Confidence and Silence Your Inner Critic

By | Business | No Comments

Have you ever found yourself relishing the thoughts of all that could go wrong in your life? Or beating yourself up mentally over tasks you couldn’t meet up with, it happens to me, and I’m pretty sure it happens to everyone else. The human mind is a different world and entity of its own, it’s more likely to find faults and criticize rather than exalt us most times. What do you do when your mind gets to criticize you at every turn? How do you silence that tiny voice within constantly bringing you down? Well, let me tell you, there a million ways to take charge over your inner critic, once you learn these steps you can take full control of your life, boost your confidence and direct affairs better.

When it comes to developing genuine, long-term confidence, the trickiest challenge is dealing with self-doubt

  • Always remind yourself you’re the best

Negativity shrinks at the sight of constant reassurance that you are good. You keep telling yourself you are awesome and other good stuff and gradually you start to believe in yourself and see your self-confidence grow.

How do you remind yourself you are the best amidst the storm of self-doubt deterring you currently? I have a few tricks I would love to share. Firstly, write a short encouraging letter highlighting all your strengths and achievements and tuck it into your purse, whenever you find yourself in those negative times read this letter to yourself. Lastly, write and paste stick note around the house, and just like the first shower yourself with praises and encouragements on each sticker. The main idea is to get honest with yourself, it helps a lot.

  • Put in your best

Most times the negative critic talking inside your head is as a result of the task we are yet to carry out or hadn’t done properly. Just like an alarm clock, the mind tells you when the time is right to carry out a task to meet up with deadlines and when you fail to listen to this same inner voice returns as the inner criticisms we feel.

Your inner critic is overly judgemental but the right trick around it is to never give yourself ammo for the inner critic, and this can only be achieved when you get productive and timely with tasks you are supposed to do.

  • See the good in yourself and to a greater extent others

There’s a popular saying that “Bad conscience breeds negativity,” this means to free your soul of all ill thought about yourself and to a greater extent others. One may be surprised why you should bring your action to others into this, yeah well our mind is a reflection of how we treat others. For example, when you see a plus-sized lady walking down the alley, and you go, ’oh damn look how fat she is,’ your mind carries out a comparative analysis between you and this lady. Often the negative is the result, you find yourself thinking a lot about your body and size and soon that might lead to loss of self-confidence and insecurities.

  • Be conscious of your inner critic

It is often said that ‘what you know is what you can control’ our inner critic has more control over us better we usually can’t tell when we drift away. When you are aware of what you think you can quickly snap out of it and reassure yourself positively.

When you actively listen to your inner thoughts you discover most of your criticisms are fallacious and undeserves, you treat yourself better and focus on getting more productive.
